A joint event of four EU-co-financed projects
- BIORES www.biores.eu,
- BiG>East www.big-east.eu
- BIOGAS ACCEPTED www.biogasaccepted.eu, and
- RE-WISE www.re-wise.org
- Present the legal/regulatory, financial and technical parameters of biogas technologies in order to increase awareness, overcome barriers and improve acceptance of biogas applications leading to more use of biogas for heating, electricity and as an alternative fuel.
- Present the most crucial non-technological barriers for further biogas exploitation in Europe and a biogas roadmap.
- Demonstrate through real case studies, the BIOGAS acceptance tool and the on-line web-based Decision Support System (DSS) how increased biogas use can contribute to CO2 emissions reduction, lead to energy cost savings in cities, communities, and regions, and create jobs and market opportunities.
- Show how it is possible to manage food waste and exploit it as an endless source of biogas
took place on 24 March 2010 in Brussels in order to:
TARGET GROUPS
Public institutions and local authorities (cities, municipalities, regions with emphasis on Southern and Eastern Europe and island communities), local energy agencies and energy management authorities, consultants, engineers, IT and economy experts, investors in energy production and end-use energy-related market actors, waste management and environmental protection agencies and consumers/citizens, EU policy makers, representatives of the European Commission, European Associations, Lobby Groups.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE EVENT
There was considerable interest in the event that attracted over 70 participants representing local authorities, energy agencies, consulting companies and University researchers.
